Asuka and Rei Maid Cafe Prize Figure (Bootleg)

When an anime character is popular, you make a lot of merchandise of
said character. But when an anime character is super popular, you find more
ways to milk said characters. That is the case with Asuka Langley Soryu
and Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Aside from their trademark
plug suit, they've been cosplayed as school girls, mermaids, biker ladies...
who knows what's next. Of course if a property is popular, bootleggers
will grab the opportunity for a quick buck.
These figures are about the Evangelion ladies cosplaying as maids in a cafe.

These are bootlegs of the Sega prize figures which can be won through raffles in
Japan only. That means, bootleggers can get to whatever molds they want. Everything
can be bootlegged.

Classic signs of a bootleg, bad paint job, seam lines, ugly molding, and somewhat
reddish skin color (particularly Rei).

But really, these bootlegs are a lot better than expected. The mold are consistent of the
original except for a few hiccups, and chipped menu tablet and the bend tray (Asuka is a
psychic!).
From afar they look like the real thing. That is why it is advisable to open and check the
product and not just look at it from the box, even if the box has a seal in it. Because, like
pirated video games and movies, bootleggers will find a way.
