Canal (Bootleg)
by ???

In the land of bootlegs, there are discrimination between the near perfect copies
and horrible ones. I, for one, thought there is only one company manufacturing those
fakers. But the more figures I got, the more I notice the difference in quality (I never
thought there's quality in a bootleg).
My other bootlegs shows seam lines, bad paints, glossiness, etc., but their mold
is more or less the same as the original. Then came this one:

What the *&%@^ is that thing on her back?!

The real figure has a lot of details on her back. This one they made up a
new, ugly mold. In fact, this figure is made of one whole mold without
separate pieces.
Pic of the authentic figure I found while searching the net.

The real figure, still don't know
what the %^&# is on her back though.

Promo pic (that's why it looks so good)

The back isn't the only problem of this bootleg, but also the front. Looking at the pic
above, the authentic figure has a nice set of rack. While the fake one:

My tits are melting...!
They never bother to sculpt that. That is disturbing.

But the chest isn't the centerpiece of this figure, it is the ass. Her ass is big and round.
And even the bootleg has a wonderful ass.

Boa Hancock (Bootleg)
Portrait of Pirate-bay
by Cheap China Crap Corporation (C4)

One Piece, the popular manga and anime, gets a buttload of bootlegs courtesy
of bootleg manufacturers from across the globe. And this particular bootleg
is Boa Hancock in her regular getup.

Boobs

You know the usual: shiny legs, seamlines, poor paint job (the color is wearing off),
skin disease all over her body, and the oily hairs.

Boobies

There are no revealing qualities for a bootleg. Why did I bought it? Cause I was
a stupid newbie collector back then.

Boobibies

This figure also has an additional face and left arm showing embarrassment,
of being a bootleg.

Boobieboobies
Seriously, why else would you buy anime figures if not for
these puppies.

Diskvision E.V.E (Bootleg)
by Cheap China Crap Corporation (C4)

First things first, I am NOT encouraging people to buy bootleg figures, as it
will hurt authentic figure makers. And bootlegs have crap quality.

This is embarrassing. But then, most first time figure collectors have been
victims of bootleg purchases before. Or at least once.  And this figure
I bought at a toy convention here in the Philippines.

She needs more than a bath to remove the awfulness.

I took this picture when it was drizzling. The figure is very shiny, one of the signs of
bootleg figures. But you wouldn't know unless you take it out of the box. Though the
mold is almost exactly like the original, the paint is horrible. The armbands and the
leg-bands are supposed to be painted gold, and the original also have designs
carved in those bands.

Why was I born in China? (Sob!)
The mold is almost like the original, but as you can see the seam lines and her left arm
connecting to the armband does not align. Another thing is the smell of the figure, it'll
cause you to vomit, it almost did to me. The materials use in this figure could be toxic,
or maybe it is toxic. There's always that certain smell that makes you dizzy, especially
plastic stuff made in China.
Looking at the photo, it's obvious that her bra(?) and her panty(?) are removable.
With the bra just hanging on her boobs and the panty has a small peg. The nips
are sculpted, but no such between her legs.

I am as fake as my boobs.
The base is just a thin black circle. Mine got it's peg broken so I have to improvise.
I use a screw to her foot and put a couple of Legend of the ring tokens and stick
them with epoxy. Now the base is as ugly as the figure. I guess that's one good
thing about this, you can do any crap with bootlegs and you will feel little to no
concern as oppose to authentic figures.

I think she's wearing a wig.
Bootleg Diskvision E.V.E. The sculpt isn't really that bad except for the
armbands/leg-bands, the paint-jobs is awful, and the smell is nauseating.
Overall, buy the original!

On a side note, there are reasons why people buy bootlegs.
- One big reason is the price. Bootlegs are 1/4 the price of the original, maybe
 even less.
- Bootlegs are customizable, if you make a mistake in repainting or cutting off
bits and pieces, you won't be as nearly devastated as you would to an expensive
 originals.
- Most people wouldn't care less if it's bootleg. They just want the anime characters
they like. Or maybe most people doesn't know the difference.
- Display purpose. Figure collectors are very protective of their figures. They
protect them from scratches and dust. Put them in expensive looking glass
cases. Avoid getting them dirty or accidentally damaging them. Bootlegs
have low maintenance because they have no value.

  But then again.
- Bootlegs have no resale value.
- Bootlegs have nauseating smell.
- Bootlegs are toxic.
- Bootlegs have low to ugly quality.
- You feel cheated if you got a bootleg.
- Bootlegs will kill the figure industry.
- Bootlegs will kill the environment.
